Statement
My work is a quiet reflection on life, survival, and the passage of time – on what it means to exist within vulnerability.
Through charcoal drawings, I explore the human condition with restraint and expressive clarity. Strong lines, simplicity, and a subtle sense of humor create images that oscillate between seriousness and lightness. The drawings do not impose conclusions; instead, they invite recognition, contemplation, and a gentle smile. Humor becomes a way to endure, a tool for resilience.
The watercolors form a counterbalance. Rich in color and inspired by natural rhythms, these works draw attention to beauty, stillness, and wonder. They encourage the viewer to slow down and reconnect with the small, often overlooked elements of the natural world.
After a period of illness, my artistic practice regained a central role in my life. Drawing and painting became a way to mark time, to breathe, and to re-establish a connection with what truly matters. While not explicitly autobiographical, this experience has deeply informed the sensitivity and tone of my work.
My practice moves between depth and lightness, reflection and contemplation – offering an open invitation to look at life with attention, curiosity, and compassion.
Bio
I graduated in 2000 from the Luca School of Arts in Ghent with a Master's degree in Fine Arts – Graphic Design. In the years that followed, I further developed my artistic practice and organized successful group and solo exhibitions.
After a period of relative silence, I resumed my artistic work with renewed intensity about two years ago. A period of illness brought me back to the essence of creating. Today, this experience forms an underlying layer in my work, without being explicitly autobiographical.
I live and work in Belgium and am active on Instagram and through Artboxy. I am currently seeking greater visibility, collaborations, and exhibition opportunities both domestically and internationally.
